Electricians & electrical repair in Dhaka & Gazipur

Home electrical work is the one area where "anyone can do it" is the most dangerous attitude. A fan that will not turn, a warm switchboard, a breaker that keeps tripping, an IPS that gives no backup, a geyser that shocks – voltage swings and load-shedding in Dhaka and Gazipur make all of these more frequent. You need an electrician who understands earthing, load calculation and safety.

Electrician profiles in the AmarKarigor app show who does house wiring, who is experienced with IPS/solar or generators, how they are rated, and what their previous jobs typically cost. Send the problem and a photo in chat, agree the price, then book a visit.

Common problems

What the technician checks

An experienced electrician usually works through these, in order:

  1. Voltage, neutral and earthing at the main board – with tester and meter
  2. Breaker ratings versus the load on each circuit
  3. Loose or burnt connections – board, junction boxes, sockets
  4. Fan capacitor, regulator, bearings and winding resistance
  5. IPS battery voltage, water level, charging current and load
  6. Geyser element, thermostat, earthing and RCCB
  7. Cable size (1.5/2.5/4 mm) adequate for heavy loads like AC and geyser

How it works on AmarKarigor

  1. Find – an electrician nearby

Choose "Electrical" in the app. Skill tags show who does wiring, fans, IPS, geysers or solar – with Verified badge and ratings.

  2. Talk – symptoms and photos

What happens (trip, heat, noise), when, and a photo of the board – put it in chat. The technician states the visit fee and a likely cost; wiring jobs are priced after a look.

  3. Fix – at your home

Almost all electrical work is on site. Agree who buys cable, switches and breakers, and which brand – especially for cable.

  4. Review – rate the job

Rate quality, price, punctuality and behaviour. Reviews of good electricians keep the next customer safe.

What affects the price

We do not quote fixed prices. In the app, each technician profile shows a "typical price" range computed from the jobs that technician has actually completed (once there are at least 5). Agree the final price with the technician in chat or on a call before the work starts.

FAQ – Electrical Repair

Fan running slowly – capacitor or winding?

If it slowed suddenly, 90% of the time it is the capacitor – a cheap fix. With heat, a burning smell or noise it is the winding or bearings. A technician can tell with a meter.

The breaker keeps tripping – should I fit a bigger one?

No. The breaker protects the cable – a rating above what the cable can carry lets it overheat and start a fire. Find and fix the cause (short, leakage, overload).

How long does an IPS battery last?

With Dhaka load-shedding, typically 2–3 years. Check the water level monthly on lead-acid batteries. When backup drops, the technician checks the battery and charging first.

What does electrical work typically cost?

A switch replacement and a full rewire are worlds apart, so we do not quote fixed prices. Each technician profile in the app shows a typical range from their completed jobs.

Does a geyser need its own line?

Yes – a geyser or AC needs a dedicated breaker from the main board, heavy cable (at least 2.5 mm), a 20 A socket and earthing. Running it from a regular board socket is a risk.

Do electricians also do solar or generators?

Some do – look for the "Solar" and "Generator" tags. Solar means panels, charge controller and batteries; generators mean changeover switches and wiring – both need specific experience.
