Plumbing & water pump repair in Dhaka & Gazipur

Plumbing problems are a daily fact of life in Dhaka homes: a dripping tap, a blocked basin or toilet, a cistern that will not fill, a rooftop tank overflowing and – the biggest worry – the water pump stopping. Old buildings have rusting GI pipes, new ones leak at PVC/PPR joints; the faults change, the need for an experienced plumber does not.

In the AmarKarigor app you can see plumbers in Dhaka and Gazipur – who understands water pumps, who does toilet fitting or tank cleaning, how they are rated, and what their previous jobs typically cost. Send a photo in chat, agree the price, book a time.

Common problems

What the technician checks

An experienced plumber usually works through these, in order:

  1. Source of the leak – tap, joint, flexible hose or concealed pipe
  2. Water pressure and the supply valves – where it can be shut off
  3. Drain line slope, traps and vents – why blockages keep recurring
  4. Pump capacitor, current draw, foot valve and priming; on submersibles the cable and float switch
  5. Tank float valve, overflow and sediment
  6. Cistern inlet/outlet valves and flapper
  7. Pipe material (GI, PVC, PPR, uPVC) – the right fittings and solvent or thread

How it works on AmarKarigor

  1. Find – a plumber nearby

Choose "Plumbing" in the app to see nearby plumbers and pump technicians – Verified badge, ratings, completed jobs and typical prices.

  2. Talk – send a photo or video

A photo of the leak or blockage, the pump model, how many floors – put it in chat. The technician states the visit fee and a likely cost; bigger jobs are priced after inspection.

  3. Fix – at your home

Plumbing is always on site. Agree who buys the parts (taps, valves, pipe) – you or the plumber; many buy from the shop and hand you the receipt.

  4. Review – rate the job

Wait a few days to see the leak does not return, then rate and review. The price you record helps others gauge typical costs.

Safety tips before you try anything yourself

What affects the price

We do not quote fixed prices. In the app, each technician profile shows a "typical price" range computed from the jobs that technician has actually completed (once there are at least 5). Agree the final price with the technician in chat or on a call before the work starts.

FAQ – Plumbing

Blocked toilet – what can I try myself?

Use a plunger a few times, or pour a bucket of hot (not boiling) water. No chemicals. If that fails, a plumber clears it with a snake. If it keeps happening the main line needs checking.

The pump runs but no water comes up – why?

Usually the prime is lost (leaking foot valve), air is entering the suction pipe, or the impeller is worn. The technician checks the foot valve, joints and impeller. Submersibles are different – say so in chat.

Does the plumber bring parts?

Washers, tape and small fittings, usually yes. Taps, valves or a pump you can buy yourself, or the plumber buys and gives you the receipt – agree in chat.

What does plumbing work typically cost?

A tap replacement and a pump replacement are far apart, so we do not quote fixed prices. Each technician profile in the app shows a typical range from their completed jobs.

How often should the tank be cleaned?

With Dhaka water, the rooftop tank at least once a year and the underground reserve tank twice. Look for technicians with the "Water tank" tag.

What if the leak comes back after the repair?

Tell the plumber in chat – most will put their own work right. The chat record in the app shows both sides what was agreed. If it is not resolved, report it from the app.
